Making stridesOn Saturday, October 18, the Weber Shandwick Seattle team joined 2,500 walkers to help raise $191,000 for the fight against breast cancer at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. Walking amongst a crowd of supporters, survivors and fighters, we felt a surge of positivity, happiness and hope. It was a sea of bright pink and smiles as we marched, in the gray morning drizzle, up and down Aurora Avenue in Seattle. Fans and supporters cheered us on with hoots and hollers, music and encouraging words.

I was impressed with the amount of people willing to get up early on a Saturday morning to rally together in support of the fight against breast cancer. Even if you haven’t personally been touched by cancer, everyone knows someone who has been affected. Looking around the crowd last weekend, I found myself thinking that everyone there had a story and a specific reason as to why they came. Many were survivors, some lost loved ones from the disease, others were currently fighting breast cancer and the rest were there in support of others. Participating in the walk was just one way we were able to show our support for the millions of people affected by breast cancer all over the country.

I’m proud to have helped raise awareness and provide meaningful support to a great cause. Thank you to Season Oltmann at the American Cancer Society for bringing us this opportunity and to our awesome Weber Shandwick Seattle team for coming together to support the hope for a cure. We are engaging, always!
